The People’s National Party, PNP, says Councillor Rohan Bryan from the St. Thomas Municipal Corporation was a man committed to service.
Councillor Bryan, also known as ‘Washy’, died at home about 2AM on Wednesday morning.
He was reportedly ailing for some time with a heart condition.
In a statement to the media, the PNP says Councillor Bryan was dedicated to the welfare of his constituents and served with the division and the party well.
The party says his departure is a significant loss to the community and the nation and says his contributions will be remembered for years to come.
Councillor Bryan, a former Deputy Mayor of Morant Bay, polled 1,879 votes in the February 26 local government elections to beat the Jamaica Labour Party’s Wilbert Walker by 423 votes.
