Opposition Spokesman on Finance, Julian Robinson, says the Jamaica Labour Party has failed to meaningfully move the country forward in its near decade in government.
Making his contribution to the Budget Debate in the House of Representatives on Thursday, Mr. Robinson chided the government for not delivering economic growth.
He says this has left many Jamaicans worse off than when the government came to office.
Robinson also sought to rubbish claims that the JLP is responsible for the country’s current economic stability.
Shaloy Smikle tells us more.
Low growth, low productivity.
Mr. Robinson says this has been the legacy of the Holness administration after nearly a decade in government.
The Opposition Spokesman says the government continues to rely on macro-economic stability with no meaningful pass through to the Jamaican people.
However, Mr. Robinson also dismissed the government’s claim that it secured the country’s economic stability.
He credits the previous Portia Simpson Miller administration with providing the foundation upon which the JLP has built its current success.
It’s a foundation he says had to be rebuilt following the ruinous policies of the previous Bruce Golding administration.
Mr. Robinson says the JLP’s claim of rescuing the country from economic ruin is a false paternity.
He also sought to assure the Jamaican people that the next PNP government will be the one to bridge the gap between macro-economic stability and actual benefits to Jamaicans.
