Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has been appointed head coach of Punjab Kings after leaving fellow Indian Premier League side Delhi Capitals.
The 49-year-old, one of the greatest batters of all time, left Delhi after a sixth-placed finish in the 2024 IPL, ending a seven-year spell with the franchise.
Ponting was linked with replacing Matthew Mott as England’s white-ball coach but ruled himself out of the running, external, citing the time commitments an international role requires.
Brendon McCullum has since been appointed to the England role, which he will combine with his duties as Test coach.
