Former Hydel High School standout Shian Salmon today crafted a lifetime best performance in the women’s 400m hurdles to lead home three Jamaican winners at the Zurich Diamond League meeting in Switzerland.
Salmon clocked 52.49 seconds to win ahead of the American Anna Cockrell 53.17 seconds with Janieve Russell taking fourth in 54.75 seconds and Andrenette Knight sixth 55.42 seconds
Roshawn Clarke won the men’s event in a season best 47.49 seconds to lead home Samba Abderraham of Qatar also in a season best 47.58 seconds.
The 2022 World Under-20 champion says his main goal was to secure a lane in the diamond league final.
The other Jamaican winner was world and Olympic silver medallist Wayne Pinnock who did 8.18m to take the men’s Long Jump title.
Pinnock was finally beating the man who denied him global gold in Budapest and Paris, Miltiadis Tentoglou who was second with 8.02m and Tajay Gayle 6th with 7.85m
Meanwhile, Tia Clayton was 6th in the women’s 100-metres in 11. 09 seconds.
America’s world champion Sha’carri Richardson won in10.84 seconds, avenging her Olympic games defeat to Julien Alfred who was second in 10.88 seconds
Hansle Parchment finished 4th in the 110-metres hurdles in 13. 18 seconds with victory going to world and Olympic champion Grant Holloway in 12.99
Danielle Williams finished 6th in the 100-metres hurdles in 12.57 seconds.
Lamara Distin was 8th in the women’s high jump in 1. 85 metres.
And Rajindra Campbell was 8th in the men’s shot put with 20-19 metres.
