Opposition senator, Donna Scott-Mottley, has raised concerns about whether Jamaica will become a republic before the next general election.
The general election is constitutionally due next year.
Senator Scott-Mottley was speaking during a debate in the Senate on Friday on a bill which amends enacting words in the legislative process.
She says despite her scepticism, she remains committed to the work being done by the Constitutional Reform Committee.
