Senator Fitz-Henley Calls Crawford’s Tax to Boost Eduction a ‘Non-Starter’

Government Senator Abka Fitz-Henley says Damion Crawford’s suggestion that the government increase GCT and use the proceeds to provide additional funds to the education sector, is a non-starter.

According to Fitz Henley, the Holness administration already has in place an arrangement that’s channeling unprecedented levels of funding into education.

Speaking at the JLP’s Area Council One meeting in Fletcher’s Land, West Kingston on Tuesday, Senator Fitz Henley says the PNP has proven that only through borrowing and the imposition of new taxes, can it provide the resources needed to fund critical sectors in the country.

He says the PNP imposed $60 billion in new taxes on Jamaicans during its last term in office.
