Opposition Spokesperson on Tourism, Senator Janice Allen, is set to be named as the PNP’s caretaker for Central St James.
Senator Allen, a St James native, will challenge the JLP’s Heroy Clarke for the seat.
Clarke, who’s also the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, defeated the PNP’s Andre Hylton in the 2020 general elections.
Allen officially joined the political class in 2020 when she was named tourism spokesperson by then PNP leader Dr. Peter Phillips.
The move was endorsed by Mark Golding when he took the reins of the opposition.
Allen, who grew up in Cambridge in Montego Bay, has political representation in her blood.
Her father, Glover Allen was a two-time PNP councillor for the Granville Division and her mother, Veronica “Winnie” Allen was a political and community activist.
Nationwide News understands Senator Allen is set to be named candidate for the seat when nomination comes.
