Opposition senator, Lambert Brown, on Friday launched a broadside against what he considers the hypocrisy shown by the government regarding the recent dual citizenship concerns.
Senator Brown slammed the Holness Administration for singling out Opposition Leader, Mark Golding, for his British citizenship when many among the government benches similarly hold dual allegiances.
Speaking in the senate, Mr. Brown asserted that as many as 30 per cent of government members in the senate hold dual citizenship.
Similarly, the Opposition senator chided transport minister, Daryl Vaz, for releasing to the public, information regarding Mr. Golding’s dual citizenship.
He believes the disclosure and Mr. Vaz’s utterances on the topic breach the spirit of the country’s data protection framework.
He called on the government to distance itself from Vaz’s comments or risk losing support for the National Identification System, NIDS.
