The South East Regional Health Authority, SERHA, has launched an investigation into the passing of the late councillor, Rohan ‘Washy’ Bryan, of the St. Thomas Municipal Corporation.

According to SERHA, before his passing, Councillor Bryan was admitted for care at the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Bryan, who first won the Morant Bay Division in 2012 on a PNP ticket, succumbed to a heart condition at about 2 am on May 1.

A protest was staged at the entrance of the health facility on Monday, with demonstrators blaming negligence for Bryan’s death.

In responding to the protest, the Regional Director for SERHA, Errol Greene, noted that the matter is being investigated.  Mr. Greene says the board will be advised as soon as investigations are complete.

In the meantime, the management of the Princess Margaret Hospital says they’ve met with Mr. Bryan’s wife and a family friend to discuss the matter.
