Dancehall artist Skillibeng has alleged that an airport worker at Norman Manley International Airport in Jamaica stole US$100,000 worth of jewelry from his luggage.

On Thursday, the Crocodile Teeth deejay issued an ultimatum on Instagram, demanding the return of his jewelry. He called on the thief to contact him directly or face consequences.

“The person weh tek out mi 100usd wut a jewelry a NMIA @nmia_airport before it guh pan d Airplane Dm me and save yuhself… or call 187*********** Limited time frame,” he wrote in an Instagram post.

“Everybody on duty knows who was responsible for searching the bags so don’t mek this hard,” he added.

A spokesperson for PAC Kingston Airport Limited, which operates the airport, told the Gleaner on Thursday that Skillibeng had not made a formal report.

“We are not aware of any reports made at the airport about stolen jewellery,” they said.

“There needs to be a report to the police or to the airline he flew with, maybe someone need to reach out to him and ask him to that, we cannot do anything with a formal report,” the official added. “When there is a formal report, then all the relevant persons in the airport are made aware and there is an investigation by the police or the airline.”

Online commenters shared mixed reactions. “At least dem left the watch fi yuh can still tell eeh time,” one person noted of the photo of Skillibeng’s empty luggage.

Several users asked why the bag was checked. “That should be carry on or personal bag still,” one of them said. Another replied: “It still nuh give the ppl dem nuh right yo. It nuh matter weh it deh frm a ppl luggage u nuh do that.”

“Doesn’t matter where him carry him Jewelry they shouldn’t have taken them. Dem too damn tief an should be fired,” one person said.
