Tax Expert Wants Details on Move to Consolidate Payroll Taxes

Tax expert and managing director of A Peart Advisory Services, Allison Peart, is questioning whether the expected consolidation of payroll taxes will result in the merger of several government agencies.

She was reacting to Prime Minister Andrew Holness’ announcement that efforts are underway to consolidate payroll taxes.

At present, income tax, education tax, and contributions to the National Insurance Scheme and the National Housing Trust are deducted from salaries according to different percentage schedules.

Ms. Peart wants to know how a consolidated payroll deduction will be calculated.

Meanwhile, she says the move should make doing business easier and more transparent.
