Tufton Denies Accusation of Unaccounted for Ventilators

Health and Wellness Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton, says there’s no truth to claims by his Opposition counterpart that ventilators donated to Jamaica are unaccounted for.

The PNP Spokesman on Health, Dr. Alfred Dawes, made the claim in a statement on Thursday.

According to Dr. Alfred Dawes, the machines, which were donated and pledged to the government by the private sector and international partners, are now unaccounted for.

But in response to Dr. Dawes, health and wellness minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton, says the ventilators that were donated to Jamaica are still in use.

Dr. Tufton says in certain cases, the ventilators cannot be used due to a lack of beds in the intensive care unit, ICU of a health facility.
