UWI Hosts GAPS Para-Athletics Camp

The Jamaica Paralympic Association, JPA, the University of the West Indies, UWI, and the Commonwealth Games Federation are partnering to host a camp for several para-coaches and athletes from the Caribbean and Falkland Islands.

The attendees are participating in the GAPS, Gather, Adjust, Prepare Sustain, Caribbean and Americas Programme underway at UWI Faculty of Sport, Mona Campus.

JPA president, Christopher Samuda, says hosting the first GAPS is a tremendous milestone.

Samuda says the JPA looks forward to hosting more camps like these.

UWI principal, Professor Densil Williams, in emphasising the business of sport and the importance of the GAPS camp, impressed upon the attendees the imperative of “building capacity in the region and then exporting talent for value.
