Vybz Kartel has surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify across his catalog. Of that amount the incarcerated deejay has 744 million as lead artist and 570million from his solo releases.

Kartel’s top song is Fever, from the album King Of The Dancehall which has surpassed 92 million streams which gets a daily average of 55,953 listens. Following behind is “Royalty,” with Ky-Mani Marley, Stefflon Don, with 42.9 million streams and a daily average of 9,223.

“International Criminal” trails slightly with 41 million streams, “Summer Time” has a total of 37.6 million, and rounding out his top five is “Pon De Floor” which has amassed 36.6 million streams

Just this week the Jamaican government was mandated to cover the expenses incurred in Vybz Kartel and Shawn Storm’s successful appeal at the Privy Council.

New York’s Fox5News Lisa Evers reported that His Majesty King Charles has issued a decree mandating the Jamaican government to cover all expenses associated with the Privy Council appeal. Stating, “The Respondents (The King of Jamaica) should pay the Appellants costs” and that “the amount of those costs should be assessed if not agreed.”

Those cost will include lawyers fees and the expenses such as visa and traveling cost associated with the appeals trial.

Kartel’s legal team, including renowned counsel from both England and Jamaica, has confirmed the government’s obligation to cover these expenses.

Following this directive, Evers said she had an exclusive conversation with Kartel’s attorney, Isat Buchanan, who provided further insights into the matter. Buchanan confirmed that the Jamaica Court of Appeal has scheduled a hearing to take place from June 10 to June 14.

The Privy Council’s recommendation for a potential retrial will be further deliberated by Jamaica’s Court of Appeal in June, as Kartel and his co-accused continue to assert their innocence in the case of Clive “Lizard” Williams’ murder.
