York Castle Wins First Rural Table Tennis Title

York Castle High School stole the show at the ISSA/JTA Credit Union Rural Table Tennis finals at GC Foster, on Wednesday.

The Brown’s Town-based team won the under 19 Girls category for the first time as they beat many-times champions Titchfield high school 3-2.

York Castle Under-16 boys put on a good show as they beat Manchester high 5-0 to also take their first title.

Titchfield retained their Under 19 Boys title, beating York Castle 4-1, while St Hildas high retained their Under 16 Girls title by beating Westwood high 3-2.

St. Hildas’ player, Alayne Ridley, says the challenges they faced in preparing for the tournament made the victory even sweeter.

The Rural Champions will tackle the Urban Champions in the National Championships at GC Foster, on April 16.
