Coalition to Preserve Reggae Music (CPR) announces that Reggae Culture Salute 2022 (RCS) will pay tribute to percussion master, Larry McDonald in a digital presentation scheduled for Thursday, November 3rd, from 7pm to 10pm EST on CPRLive via www.cprlive.org and www.facebook.com/cprlive1.

Reggae Culture Salute, marks the anniversary of the coronation of Emperor Haile Selassie I and Empress Menen of Ethiopia, and highlights the unique relationship between, Reggae (recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity), Rastafari, Emperor Selassie and Jamaica.

The highlight of the evening will be a conversation with Larry McDonald about his exemplary career spanning more than six decades after which he will be presented with the CPR Pinnacle Award for Excellence. The conversation is another initiative of The Legacy Project, a CPR effort to curate and digitally present information about reggae pioneers. “Recognizing and honoring contributors to the evolution of this intangible cultural heritage of humanity is vital in the preservation of reggae and we are pleased to present this pioneer in conversation” said Carlyle McKetty, co-founder and president of CPR.

As always, RCS will pay homage to Emperor Haile Selassie I and Empress Menen with an array of arts presentations including poetry, dance and dialogue regarding the nexus between Reggae, Rastafari, Emperor Selassie and Jamaica. “This hallmark event routinely attracts a racially diverse inter-generation audience and we especially urge children and young adults to engage in this teachable moment about this intangible cultural heritage,” said McKetty.
