Jamaica’s national under 17 men’s football team is now just a point away from qualifying for a third World Cup finals.

The young Jamaicans registered a crushing 10-1 victory over the Cayman Islands in their Group D encounter at the Concacaf final round qualifiers in Guatemala on Wednesday night.

Jaquan Brown, Seymour Reid and Jahmarie Nolan were all on target twice.

The win moved Jamaica to the top of the Group with El Salvador on six points each, after the Central Americans defeated St. Lucia 2-0 in the late game.

However, Jamaica, with a plus eleven goal difference, need only to avoid defeat against the Salvadorians, who have a plus 10 goal difference, on Saturday to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar in November.

Jamaica’s two previous appearances at the World Cup came in 1999 and 2011.
