15-Year-Old Belizean Track Star Making Strides in Jamaica

A young Belizean is proudly flying the Jewel’s flag abroad, not in the classroom alone, but on the track as well. Fifteen-year-old Norman Sutherland, a student-athlete attending St. Elizabeth Technical High School in Jamaica, is quickly making a name for himself in one of the Caribbean’s most competitive high school track and field scenes. Sutherland, originally from Belize, relocated to Jamaica to pursue both academic and athletic opportunities. He attends St. Elizabeth Technical, known for producing some of Jamaica’s top runners. Love News spoke with Sutherland who told us about the level of discipline he must maintain. 

Sutherland is expected to spend the next 4 years completing school in Jamaica.
