A seventeen-year-old student from Billy White Village, Cayo District, has been charged after police say he refused to stop during a motorcycle pursuit and struck an officer with the bike. The incident happened around ten-fifteen on the night of October 3, while officers were patrolling Bullet Tree Village. According to police, two males were riding a dirt bike without a visible license plate or rear light. Officers activated their lights and siren and directed the driver to stop, but he allegedly sped off and later drove through a red light. The pursuit continued onto Hospital Street, where an ongoing wake blocked the road. Police say the officers got out of their vehicle and approached the motorcycle, but the driver turned around and drove towards them, striking a police constable on the arm. The motorcycle fell, and officers allege that the teenager struggled with them before being detained. He was formally charged the following day with aggravated assault, wilfully refusing to stop when directed, reckless driving and resisting arrest. Police say his mother was present when he was informed of his rights and charged.
