- File photo South Western Division police are trying to piece together the circumstances that led to two men being shot and wounded on New Year’s Day in Siparia.
The injured men have been identified as Akil Solomon, 31, of La Romaine and Darell Dean, 44, of Santa Cruz.
According to the police, the two were taken to the Siparia District Health Facility after being shot.
At around 8 pm, a nurse notified the Siparia Police Station about a patient brought in with gunshot wounds. On arrival, the officers were informed that a second male patient was being treated for gunshot injuries.
The police later learnt that Solomon was shot around 6 pm at Parsan Trace in Mendez Village in Siparia. It is unclear whether Dean was wounded in that same incident or in another incident in the district.
The two men were later transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital, where they remained warded up to January 2. Siparia police are investigating.
