2026 World Relays Awarded to Botswana

The World Athletics Council has awarded the 2026 World Athletics Relays to capital city Gaborone in Botswana May 2-3.

This will mark the first time Botswana is hosting a World Athletics series.

The country’s capital city held a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting for the first time in 2023 and this year’s Botswana Golden Grand Prix, taking place in Gaborone on April 12, will also be a Gold-level meeting

Nassau in the Bahamas, hosts for the first three World Relays, has been awarded the 2028 edition at the Thomas A. Robinson stadium April 22-23.

The 2026 World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships will be staged in the Brazilian capital Brasília April 26, 2026.

Gabarone held a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting for the first time in 2023 and this year’s Botswana Golden Grand Prix, taking place in Gaborone on April 12, will also be a Gold-level meeting.

The World Athletics Relays will return to Nassau for the fifth time in 2028, following the city’s hosting of the event in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2024.
