Twenty-one Jamaicans will be in action on Friday’s opening day of the fifth NACAC Senior Athletics Championships in Freeport Bahamas.
A number of them will be trying to attain World Championship qualifying standards, while others will be hoping to secure wild card places in Tokyo as NACAC champions.
The first in action on Friday will be Fedrick Dacres and Chad Wright in the men’s Discus, neither has yet to attain the World Championship standard of 67.50m
Dacres’ best so far this season 66.33, while Wright is 62.92m
Also in action will be national 400m champion and record holder Rusheen McDonald who’s chasing the magic time of 44.85 seconds for automatic qualification to the world championships.
His best so far this season 44.89 seconds while winning the national title.
