21-Year-Old Jermaine Burns Jr. Dies Days After Belmopan Crash

Twenty-one-year-old Jermaine Nolan Burns Junior died on September 4, days after being critically injured in a traffic accident on Constitution Drive in Belmopan.  Burns was travelling towards the Shell gas station with 20-year-old Dakima Burgess as his passenger on the night of August 29 when their motorcycle collided with a pickup truck turning into the Atlantic Bank compound.  Burns suffered serious injuries and was later transferred for further medical treatment while Burgess sustained a cut to her left wrist.  The pickup was driven by 31-year-old Noe Larios. Police say Larios acknowledged moving the vehicle before officers arrived and accepted responsibility for the collision in his statement. He was served with a notice of intended prosecution as the investigation continues.  Our newsroom issues condolences to Lieutenant Colonel Jermaine Burns Senior on the passing of his son.
