21-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in Pine Ridge Road Crash

A twenty-one-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a traffic accident on the Pine Ridge Road in the Cayo District yesterday evening.  The deceased has been identified as Jorge Faustino Zetina, a labourer of San Antonio Village.  Police visited an area approximately six and a half miles along the Pine Ridge Road at around seven o’clock, where they found Zetina motionless in the middle of the road. His extensively damaged motorcycle was found nearby, while a grey Ford Escape with significant damage to its front was parked approximately seventy-five feet away.  An initial investigation indicates that, at around six o’clock, thirty-three-year-old Hugo Blanjener Galicia of El Progresso Village was driving the SUV south along the Pine Ridge Road when the collision occurred.  ASP Stacy Smith gave a very surfaced report on the matter.

ASP Stacy Smith, Belize Police Department: “Initial investigation suggests that Zetina was traveling on the motorcycle in a northerly direction when a collision occurred between the motorcycle and the SUV which was traveling in the opposite direction. The circumstance of the collision remains under investigation.”

Zetina was transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at eight-seventeen that night.  Galicia was served with a Notice of Intended Prosecution.
