Twenty-six schools from across Western Jamaica who are a part of the Cricket Intervention Programme, CIP, received cricket kits from the Jamaica Cricket Association and Ministry of Sport, on Thursday.
CIP provide the students with an opportunity to learn through play.
Minister of Sports, Olivia Grange, says the programme offers much more than just the thrill of competition.
Minister Grange says these skills translate directly into academic success and personal growth.
She also had high praises for Dian Foster-Wright, the dean of discipline at Merlene Ottey High, who conceptualise the programme.
