Thirty-four young athletes will represent Belize at the 2026 CODICADER Disability Games in Guatemala from October twenty-fifth to thirty-first. The National Sports Council held a send-off ceremony on Saturday ahead of Belize’s third appearance at the regional competition. The athletes will compete in athletics, boccia and goalball. They are students from ten schools across the Belize, Cayo, Toledo and Orange Walk districts. Belize’s delegation has sixty-three members, including twenty-nine coaches, chaperones, classifiers, delegation leaders and other support personnel. The team includes athletes with intellectual, physical and learning disabilities, as well as visual and hearing impairments. According to the Sports Council, all meet the Games’ eligibility requirements. The competition brings together young athletes with disabilities from across Central America. The Council says it gives Belize’s team a chance to test their skills against regional competitors, gain experience and represent the country.
