400m Semis Highlight Wednesday Morning Session of Champs

The 400m semi-finals highlighted the morning session on day two of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships now underway at the National stadium.

Defending champions Abigail Campbell of Hydel was supreme in winning her semi-final in 53.30 seconds, the fastest time going into the final

Edwin Allen’s Kellyann Carr who’s expected to provide Campbell with her main challenge, was also comfortable in winning her semi-final in 53.94 seconds.

in the class-1 boys semifinals, Jabari Matheson has the fastime going into the final after winning semi-final-3 in 46.54 seconds.

Hydel Athletes, Natassia Fletcher and Sashana Johnson clocked the two fastest times in the semi-finals of the class-2 girls’ 400-metres.

Johnson posted 53.97 seconds to win semi-final-2, while Fletcher won semi-final-3 in 53.08 seconds.

Foga Road’s Shameoka McLean sets herself up as the favourite to win the class-3 title, by posting 54.79, the quickest going into the final

Defending champion Marcinho Rose of Kingston College eased into the class 1 boys final after winning his semi-final in 46.80 seconds.

The fastest time however belongs to man expected to challenge him Jabari Matheson of William Knibb who came back 46.54 seconds.

Rusea’s High’s Tiene Barrett is the fastest qualifier going into the class-3 final with 49.98 seconds.

Seventeen finals are on the schedule for today including the 100m all classes boys and girls.

The Class-2 boys Long Jump will be the first final contested at 2:10 pm.

Meanwhile, the class-3 girls’ 1500-metres will be the first final on the track at 7:21 pm.
