The Jamaica Olympic Association, JOA, will be shelling out $6 million to five athletes to assist in their qualification for the Paris Olympic Games.

The athletes Shaneika Rickettes, Malik James King, Christoff Bryan, Samantha Hall and Nyoka Clunis, reached out to the JOA for assistance on their Olympic journey.

JOA President Chris Samuda says the association is always willing to support the country’s athletes.

The initiative is in addition to the eight athletes who have benefitted from the Olympic Solidarity Scholarship programme since 2021, for which they have received a combined US $300,000.

In that same period the JOA also provided scholarships to three other athletes through it’s scholarship programme in excess of $6 million.

The JOA had the official Paris Olympics launch at the Terra Nova hotel on Thursday night. The occasion was used to thank sponsors and to unveil the management team.

Reigning Olympic champion Hansle Parchment, Kaliese Spencer Carter, Christine Day, Christoff Bryan and Asafa Powell were in attendance.
