500 Commonwealth Teachers to Receive Robotics and Coding Training

Five hundred teachers from across the Commonwealth are preparing to take part in a new robotics and coding training programme designed to build digital skills and transform classroom learning. The initiative, developed by The Commonwealth of Learning, introduces a comprehensive curriculum that will train educators in introductory coding, robotics and computational thinking. The programme is designed to help teachers confidently integrate technology into their lessons while encouraging innovation, creativity and critical thinking among students. Organisers say the curriculum goes beyond teaching technical skills. It focuses on providing educators with practical, hands-on learning experiences that can be adapted for classrooms of different ages and learning environments, ensuring students are better prepared for an increasingly digital world. The Commonwealth of Learning’s Virtual University for the Small States of the Commonwealth, Education Adviser, Dr Schontal Moore told Love News about the exciting road ahead. 

The programme also promotes collaboration among educators from different countries, allowing teachers to exchange ideas and best practices while strengthening STEAM education throughout the Commonwealth. Dr. Moore says the partnership demonstrates a shared commitment to ensuring quality technology education is accessible to more schools and more students.
