The National Water Commission, NWC, has written off over $600 million in debt for customers across the island.

Minister with responsibility for Water, Matthew Samuda, made the announcement at the JLP’s Area Council One meeting in South East St. Andrew on Sunday.

Minister Samuda also gave an update on the 90-day NWC bill amnesty, which took effect on January 2 this year.

He says more than 20,000 Jamaicans have applied for the programme.

It was set to end on March 31.
