64-year-old killed by “fake” police

A 64-year-old man was gunned down on Wednesday night and two others, including a 15-year-old girl, were shot.
Police reported that around 11 pm, officers responded to reports of gunshots at Demerara Road, Arima. When officers arrived, they found Richard Maloney near the back door of his home with gunshot wounds.
Police said Maloney responded to a knock on his door after people shouted, “Police, open up!” Maloney opened the door and two masked men opened fire, killing him and injuring a 45-year-old woman and the child.
The two injured victims were taken to the Arima Hospital while Maloney died at the scene.
Police recovered 16 spent shells and two live 9 mm rounds of ammunition at the scene.
No motive was given for the killing.
