The Opposition PNP has defended its caretaker for South West St. Elizabeth, Dr. Miranda Wellington over comments she made seemingly endorsing war from a political platform.
The PNP caretaker made the remarks while speaking to party faithful at the Frome divisional conference in Westmoreland on Sunday.
She also used the platform to criticise her opponent, Floyd Green, describing him as “fenke-fenke.”
The JLP called on Dr. Wellington to apologise for her remarks, citing Jamaica’s history of political violence.
But in response, PNP General Secretary, Dr. Dayton Campbell, says Dr. Wellington is the target of a JLP smear campaign.
Dr. Campbell says the PNP is standing behind Dr. Wellington.
He adds that the JLP has done absolutely nothing meaningful to curtail the dangerous rhetoric and belligerent behaviour coming from its senior members.
