A Moruga man who was captured on video beating and manhandling a nine-year-old boy while threatening to stab him with a knife has been arrested.
Assistant Police Commissioner South/Central Wayne Mystar confirmed last night that the 43-year-old man was arrested by officers of the special victim’s unit. Three boys ages 5, 7, and 9 were removed from the home and taken into the custody of the Children’s Authority.
The incident occurred around 8.45 pm in Marac Village in Moruga on Monday night and was recorded on a resident’s phone.
Officers of Special Victims Unit, Children’s Authority and Moruga Police were contacted on Tuesday after the video went viral.
In the video, the terrified child screamed and pleaded with the man who pulled, shoved, hit, and cursed him on the road.
The man raised the knife and threatened to stab the child several times. No one tried to help the young boy.
The three children were taken into the custody of the Children Authority.
Investigations are ongoing.
