A Belize City court yesterday handed over full disclosure to murder accused Ellis Meighan, also known as “Juice,” as his case continues to move through the preliminary stage. The 33-year-old made his second appearance in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Placencia. During the morning’s proceedings, the Chief Magistrate explained that although the matter is assigned to the Independence Magistrate’s Court, Meighan was brought to Belize City due to the absence of a magistrate in that jurisdiction. In court, Meighan, who was represented by Attorney Abibi Moguel of Lynden Jones Law Firm, was formally provided with disclosure totaling 181 pages along with 22 original photographs. The Chief Magistrate informed him that the materials constitute the full disclosure in the murder case against him. Meighan is accused of the April 2024 shooting death of Roy Lee Burgess in Placencia. He also faces related allegations of attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm, and dangerous harm in connection with injuries sustained by American national Maia James, who survived the incident. Court records indicate that Meighan was deported from the United States and brought to Belize City on September 12, 2025, where he was first arraigned on the murder charge. His next court date is set for April 8, in the Independence Magistrate’s Court, where the matter is scheduled for Preliminary Inquiry.
