Nationwide News understands that businessman Adion Peart has applied to represent the Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, in South East St. Ann at the next general election.
Peart, who was recently defeated in an internal run-off for South Manchester, has reportedly turned his attention to the traditionally safe PNP seat in the garden parish.
It’s understood Peart has received the endorsement of the constituency executive in South East St. Ann.
Nationwide sources say the businessman has also been meeting with key party representatives in all four divisions of the constituency.
Peart’s interest in the constituency has not gone unnoticed by the Opposition People’s National Party, PNP.
At a recent campaign launch for the PNP’s standard bearer in the seat, Dr. Kenneth Russell, the party’s General Secretary, Dr. Dayton Campbell, appeared to take aim at Peart.

When contacted, Peart’s camp declined to comment.
South East St. Ann is currently represented in parliament by the PNP’s Lisa Hanna.
She narrowly held on to it in the September 2020 General Election, winning by 31 votes.
