International netball icon and Adelaide Thunderbirds star Romelda Aiken-George has called time on her incredible career.

After 18 seasons, 245 games, and four premierships, Aiken-George played her final national league match in the side’s home semi-final.

One of the most decorated athletes to ever play the game, Aiken-George has built a legacy like no other.

The prolific goal shooter burst onto the netball scene when she debuted for Jamaica in 2005 and put her name up in lights during the 2007 Netball World Cup.

She was picked up the following year by the Queensland Firebirds, where she spent the next 14 seasons, collecting three premierships and three league MVPs along the way.

Sunshine Girls centre, Khadijah Williams, described her as the Usain Bolt of netball.

In 2023, she signed with the NSW Swifts and played a pivotal role in the side securing their place in the Grand Final, before joining the Thunderbirds for 2024.

In Round 3 of 2025, she etched her name deeper into netball history as she became the most-capped player across the ANZ Championship and Suncorp Super Netball competitions with 233, surpassing fellow icon Geva Mentor.

Five rounds later, she became just the second player to reach 9,000 national goals, joining fellow Jamaican Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard.

Williams says Aiken George’s departure leaves a huge void in world netball.
