A Carlsen Field resident’s quick action with an air horn forced three bandits to abandon a robbery and flee through nearby bushes early on Monday.
Police said a 53-year-old poultry farmer had just left his home to tend to livestock when three men confronted him, one with a gun and two with cutlasses. They tied his hands and demanded money, forcing him back inside the house where he handed over $400 from his wallet.
When the farmer tried to escape, one of the men planassed him with a cutlass. His neighbour heard the struggle and blew an air horn, causing the men to run off.
Central Division police responded but did not find the suspects.
