COACH AT Hurdles Mechanics, Kemar Mowatt, has confirmed that world under-20 100-metre champion, Alana Reid, is now operating out of the Arkansas University-based club.
Reid, who rose to fame when she clocked 10.92 seconds to become Jamaica’s junior record holder, had joined Star Athletics after high school in 2023.
Reid made a Jamaica team to the Paris Olympics last year where her 4x100 team failed to impress, finishing fifth. However, she went on to claim the world under-20 title and lead Jamaica to the 4x100-metre title as well in Lima, Peru.
There was much hope for Reid, who was teamed up with superstars like Sha’Carri Richardson, but things seemed not to have worked out with the Dennis Mitchell-led outfit.
Reid will now join fellow Jamaicans Ackera Nugent and Nickisha Price under the guidance of coach Lawrence ‘Boogie’ Johnson.
At 19 years old, Reid will seek to make another senior team to compete at the 2025 World Championships scheduled for Tokyo, Japan.
