Alexis Rosado Rape Trial Delayed Again

The rape trial of former ambassador Alexis Rosado did not begin as scheduled in Belmopan today, after the case was adjourned for a third time.  Rosado was expected to appear in court at nine o’clock this morning. His attorneys, Richard “Dickie” Bradley and Leeroy Banner, informed the court that he was unwell and submitted a medical certificate explaining his absence.  Rosado was charged in 2022 with one count of rape, one count of sexual assault and six counts of aggravated assault.  The complainant reported the allegations to police in December 2021. She alleges that Rosado began a sexual relationship with her when she was 13 and continued engaging in sexual acts with her until 2021. She further alleges that she was sexually assaulted multiple times and raped twice.  The trial has now been rescheduled to begin on October 5.
