For the first time, the world-renowned Alvin Ailey II dance company will perform in Trinidad and Tobago.
The company will take the stage at Queen’s Hall, Port of Spain, presenting its celebrated repertoire including the iconic modern dance work Revelations, choreographed by Alvin Ailey.
The visit is part of the Amalgamation Tour, produced by Plié for the Arts in partnership with the National Dance Association of Trinidad and Tobago. Alvin Ailey II will also host a free masterclass and workshop for local dancers, including students from The University of the West Indies, St Augustine.
Founder of Plié for the Arts, Marisa Benain, said, “This is more than a performance, it’s a moment in Caribbean cultural history.”
The Alvin Ailey company is recognised internationally for reshaping modern dance and celebrating African-American cultural expression.
Its arrival in Trinidad marks a new opportunity for regional artists and audiences to experience dance of the highest calibre.
