American Woman Hospitalized After Crocodile Attack in Caye Caulker

A terrifying early-morning encounter with a crocodile has left an American woman hospitalized following an attack off the coast of Caye Caulker.  Police say that shortly after 3:40 this morning, authorities were alerted to a report of a woman at the Caye Caulker Health Center suffering from what was described as a severe crocodile bite. Officers responded and upon arrival observed 44-year-old Nicole Elizabeth Robinson, an American businesswoman of Playa Asuncion, with visible injuries.  ASP Stacy Smith gave a briefing on the incident.

Stacy Smith, Assistant Superintendent of Police: “Police visited the Caye Caulker health center where they met with Nicole Robinson, an American national land businesswoman of Caye Caulker who reported that some time around 3:30 am she and other friends took a swim in front of Sit and Dip and while she was in the water she was pounced upon by a crocodile which bit her on her elbow. She was transported for medical attention and she is listed in a stable condition”

Due to the severity of her injuries, Robinson was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City for further treatment./
