Nigerian sprint hurdler Tobi Amusan, who now trains at Racers Track Club, will make her local season debut today at the Velocity Fest 16 track and field meet at Ashenheim Stadium, starting at 4 p.m.
The 28-year-old Amusan, the 2022 gold medallist in the women’s 100 metres hurdles at the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon, and the world record holder in the event with a time of 12.12 seconds, will compete in the women’s 100m which begins at 4:30 p.m.
She will race in heat three against Serena Cole of MVP, Shannia Henry of Titans Track Club and Lavanya Williams of Elite Track Club.
Olympic Games 100m finalist Tia Clayton, who has been impressive this season in the 60m, will compete in the 200m. The lineup includes her MVP teammate Sade Williams, Krystal Sloley of UTech, Shiann Salmon of SprinTec, Kemba Nelson of Elite Performance, and Jura Levy of Swept Track Club.
Rushell Clayton of Elite Performance, an Olympic Games 400m hurdles finalist, will contest the women’s 400m alongside her club teammate Aaliah Baker and Kelly Ann Beckford of MVP.
Among the male athletes, Ackeem Blake of Dynamic Speed will compete in the men’s 100m. The field will also feature the Swept Track Club trio of Dejour Russell, Tyquendo Tracy, and Nickoy Drummond, along with Odaine McPherson and Brendon Rodney of SprinTec, and Adrian Kerr of Motorcade.
Roshawn Clarke, an Olympic Games 400m hurdles finalist from Swept Track Club, and Malik James-King of Titans will compete in the men’s 400m, which will also feature Deandre Watkins of Elite Performance.
Other events on the track today include the women’s 100m hurdles, men’s 110m hurdles, and the 800m for both men and women. Field events will feature the men’s long jump, triple jump, javelin throw, and discus throw, while the women will compete in the discus throw and long jump.
