ANSA Coatings supports students at La Horquetta

ANSA Coatings Limited (ACL) supported 108 students from La Horquetta South Government Primary School on Tuesday, during its second annual Back-to-School Drive, more than double the 51 students it helped last year.

The initiative, funded entirely through staff contributions, provided stationery, snacks, and eight fully sponsored booklist bags to children identified as most in need. The event also included games, face painting and activities aimed at engaging the students.

General manager Rhea Singh said the initiative was intended to provide tangible support for local students and their families.

“Caring with purpose means being intentional about the difference we make, showing up for our community, investing in our children, and creating opportunities for brighter futures,” Singh said.

“These children are not just students in a nearby school; they are part of our extended ACL family.”

ACL managing director Nicholas Mac Lean and Sector HR manager Portia Darsoo were also on hand, while the day was coordinated by the company’s HR team, with support from Rhythm Keepers.

The organisers said the drive was part of a broader effort by staff to address the challenges faced by students and parents during a difficult economic period. Students and teachers expressed appreciation for the contributions, noting that such initiatives offered practical relief and encouragement ahead of the school year.

ACL’s staff-led approach ensured that all donations came directly from employees rather than corporate funds, reflecting the company’s internal culture of community involvement.

“The nice thing about this is that all of these donations were actually done by our employees,” said Mac Lean. “So this was not a company initiative. Yes, the company has supported, but this is actually our employees giving back.”
