66-year-old Anthony Codd is a free man today after being cleared of aggravated assault charges. According to reports, on Wednesday of this week, he was accused by Egbert Woods, a 51-year-old retired driver who claimed that Codd, his then landlord, pulled a machete on him after failing to pay his rent. Despite standing unrepresented before the Magistrate in his long-anticipated trial, Codd was released yesterday after Woods failed to appear to testify against him. In an interview, he told us that the experience of being handcuffed was very traumatizing.

Anthony Codd, Landlord: “He reported and said I pulled a machete and fired three chops at him to try and chop him and that is a lie. This man owes me so much money and doesn’t want to pay me and had them lock me down in jail two days. They handcuff me from head to toe for nothing. They just chancing me s me, an old man for nothing. I’m 65 and look at what they are doing to me. I have already retired. Why do they handcuff me for nothing? For my own place. Looks like they want me dead. I want all my family in the United States to know that I am not doing anyone anything, that I am no bad man and that I am not harming anyone. I am not going to do anything against him. I just want the police to leave me alone and stop having people set me up and come interfere with me, abstract me for nothing. I am an old man trying to live my life. I am not doing anyone anything.”
With the case now behind him, Codd says he is trying to move on with his life and hopes no other senior citizen endures what he went through.
