Arima man killed at birthday party

A 23-year-old Arima man was killed at his own birthday party on Tuesday night.

Police said Mikel Campbell was at his Maturita Trace home at around 11:35 pm when a gunman walked onto the property and called for him by name.

Campbell was sitting in the garage of the home but went out to check on hearing the stranger when he was shot several times in his neck, chest, arm and midsection.

The gunman ran away as Campbell’s relatives who were in the house at the time heard the gunshots.

They took Campbell to the Arima Hospital where he was declared dead at 11.44 pm.
Investigators visited the scene and found two spent 9 mm shells.

Region II Homicide investigators are continuing enquiries.
