A masked bandit stormed a San Fernando restaurant on Saturday, escaping with thousands in cash, valuables, and the owner’s pickup truck.
Police said the robbery happened around 2:30 pm when a dark, slim-built man, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, entered the Cipero Road establishment. He was wearing an orange coverall and ski mask, and had an object resembling a firearm tucked into his clothing.
The suspect approached a 40-year-old employee and demanded money. He took $6,000 — the day’s sales — and the worker’s blue Samsung cellphone valued at $1,500.
As he was leaving, the robber saw the 70-year-old owner sitting in a black Toyota Hilux parked in front. Police said the bandit pulled him from the driver’s seat and sped away heading north.
The stolen pickup, valued at $100,000, contained the keys to the restaurant and $5,502 in employee wages. It has not yet been recovered.
Investigations are continuing.
