Arnett Gardens were today eliminated from the Concacaf Caribbean Shield Competition following a crushing 4-1 defeat at the hands of Athletic Club of Port of Spain at the Hasley Crawford Stadium in Trinidad.

The defending champions were 2-nil down with 15 minutes to and heading out of the competition when Joel Jones threw them a lifeline with a stunning goal from outside the area.

However AC Port of Spain restored their two goal advantage with their very next attack before adding a fourth in added time to dump Arnett from the competition at the group stage.

Club Franciscain of Martinque won the group after beating Scholars International of the Cayman Islands 1-nil to take the lone semi-final spot from group D.

With the elimination of Arnett Gardens, Jamaica’s interest in regional football now switches to the Concacaf Caribbean Cup with champions Cavalier away to Cibao F.C of the Dominican Republic and Mount Pleasant hosting SV Robinhood of Suriname on August 19.
