Elroy Bainton, 26, was in court on Tuesday to answer to the charge of common assault. Just before noon, he pleaded guilty to the charge that stemmed from a domestic dispute between him and his estranged girlfriend, Natesha Tillett. In court, Bainton walked free after his estranged girlfriend dropped the charges against him.
While the charge was being read to him, Bainton immediately told the court that the victim was outside, prepared to drop the charge. Despite Bainton’s claim, the Chief Magistrate requested his plea on the matter, and he then pleaded guilty. Following Bainton’s guilty plea, the court placed the session on standby as they verified his statement with the victim. She cooperated with them, but not before seeking a protection order. Later that day, sometime after 2 pm, Bainton was escorted back to the family court, where he was notified that all criminal charges were dropped; however, a protection order was now in effect against him.
The incident took place on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at around 9:34 p.m. Natesha Tillett visited the Ladyville Police Station and reported that at 7:30 that same night, she was in her yard at her apartment complex when she got into an altercation with her common-law husband, Elroy Bainton, who was living with her at the time.
According to the victim, Bainton started with an outburst of profanity as she was trying to put their seven-year-old son to sleep. He then approached her from behind and proceeded to grab her, placing a knife to her neck. He then pulled her out of the apartment by the hair and hit her on the right hand.
