Back-to-School Hair Drive Returns to Support Families in Punta Gorda

As students and families prepare for the upcoming school year, a Punta Gorda business owner is continuing an initiative aimed at easing some of the challenges associated with back-to-school preparations. Niricie Mejia, owner of Nir’s Creations, is hosting the third annual Back to School Hair Drive, an event that brings together volunteer barbers and braiders from across Belize to provide free grooming services while also offering school supplies and other essentials to students in need.  The annual initiative will provide free haircuts, braids, hair treatments, school bags, snacks, and goodie bags for students. Organizers say the event is not only about preparing children for the classroom but also about bringing the community together to support families during the back-to-school season.

Organizers are also seeking support through donations and sponsorships to assist with school supplies for students, as well as expenses such as travel, food, and accommodation for volunteer stylists who will be taking part in the initiative.  As the Back to School Hair Drive enters its third year, Niricie Mejia and Nir’s Creations continue their efforts to give back to the Punta Gorda community by helping students return to school feeling prepared, confident, and supported.
