Reggae legend Barrington Levy says he is grateful to Boston’s Mayor Michelle Wu after receiving a City of Boston citation over the weekend in recognition of his contribution to music.

In an appreciation post on social media, Levy credited the citation as a motivator for his future endeavours, particularly in supporting emerging talents and fostering long-lasting music and entrepreneurship ventures. The veteran singer also took a moment to thank his devoted fans for their unwavering support throughout his illustrious career.

The special citation presented by Boston’s Caribbean Cultural Advisor, Bianca Rose, on behalf of the city’s mayor, came during the Boston stop of Levy’s Here I Come (A Fi Yuh) Tour.

The tour, which kicked off on June 1 in Tucson, Arizona, celebrates the 40th anniversary of Levy’s iconic album Here I Come. The tour’s extensive 35-date schedule across the United States concludes on September 14 in Chicago.
